Apprentice Industrial Painter (Nights)


Reporting to the Production Manager the Apprentice Painter will learn to produce painted surfaces for lifesaving Armor and Defence applications.

Responsibilities/ Duties:

  • Train to operate paint booth within guidelines and specifications
  • Train to prepare proper paint colors by mixing paint according to formulas
  • Train to calculate paint ratios per specifications
  • Train to apply paint to parts using air assisted spray painting tools
  • Mask off parts of vehicle that need to be protected from paint
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards and specifications are met
  • Read, understand and follow Instructions, drawings, specifications, blueprints and assembly instructions
  • Review work instruction, procedures and checklists and ensure materials needed for production are ready and the work area is prepared
  • Consistently meet all specifications and standards in production
  • Wear and use appropriate safety equipment
  • Work with the supervisor to resolve any technical, productivity, safety or schedule problems
  • Assist in any work area and aid other team members when assigned
  • Perform general shop duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Operate and maintain paint equipment and use tools safely
  • Do maintenance on equipment and keep records
  • Clean work areas as required


  • Completion of High School
  • Previous experience with industrial painting is considered a strong asset
  • Previous experience with air assisted metal spray painting is considered a strong asset
  • Previous experience working with liquid paints such as polyurethane, epoxy, and urethane is considered a strong asset
  • Basic math skills are essential
  • Ability to read blueprints is considered an asset
  • Manual Dexterity is essential

  • Able to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of performing in a high-volume production facility
  • Strong attention to detail
