Intermediate Project Manager
The Intermediate Project Manager reports directly to the Senior Program Manager.
Responsibilities/Duties:
(Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following)
- Design, communicate, and implement an operational plan for completing a project; monitor progress and performance against the project plan; resolve operational problems, minimize delays.
- Identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete the project.
- Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors.
- Create and maintain strong customer relations through regular contact and visits.
- Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete.
- Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met.
- Liaise with other areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project.
- Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
- Coach and mentor project staff and assist them to solve problems.
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project(s) and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects as defined working with plant leadership.
- Develops and implements recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities.
- Establishes work plan for each phase of project.
- Coordinates activities of all resources assigned to the project including supervisors/team leaders/and subject matter experts assigned to the project.
- Leads project team to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Reports to project steering committee and/or executive stakeholder progress and status of project on a regular basis. Prepares written project reports.
- Prepare monthly (on going) project financial updates.
- Develops and implements recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated eventualities.
- Investigate and resolve and contractual disputes, production problems or project errors efficiently and professionally with guidance from Senior Project Managers.
- Directs and coordinates program activities including but not limited to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the program.
- Requires knowledge of technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project management including use of information systems, engineering software, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Oversees work of sub-contractors and their workforce as appropriate.
- Provide guidance to junior project managers (PMs) and students.
- Travel as required.
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety regulations and follow the environmental and quality management systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- P.Eng designation (or eligibility) would be considered an asset.
- PMP certification would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of three years Project Management experience.
- Experience managing medium-sized and complex projects.
- Experience using enterprise software, with preference for Visual Manufacturing.
- Experience supervising a small team.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Experience with Government contracts would be an asset.

Working conditions & Physical requirements:
- This position works primarily in an office environment.
- This position occasionally works in a production environment which can be noisy/dusty.
