The Environmental Control Unit (ECU) is a mobile field cooling and heating unit that has the capability of maintaining a 20°C to 26°C temperature (in cool mode) or a minimum 10°C temperature (in heat mode) in a tent, in regions with ambient temperatures ranging from -19°C to +49°C.

The ECU is constructed out of aluminum to avoid any rust caused by the various environments to which it may be subjected. This in turn makes it a light weight ECU with total weight of less than 255kg for a 5ton unit with a heat pump.

The ECU is a mobile cooling and heating unit powered by 208 VAC, 3ph, 60Hz electrical supply. The power supply can be modified to meet customer requirements. It is installed outside the tent or shelter.

It uses supply and return vents and ducting (and a shelter internal distribution ducting system) to circulate cold, warm or fresh air (or re-circulated air from the shelter) into the tent or shelter. The operator can control the temperature and heating modes by adjusting the thermostat and switches on the remote control. Alarm LEDs are located on the remote control and the ECU electrical box assembly.
