Job description
The Mechanical Assembly Technician reports directly to the Supervisor.
Responsibilities & Duties:
(Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following)
Quality:
- Consistently meet all specifications and standards in production
- Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met
- Follow work/assembly instructions as required
- Use required tools properly
- Report broken or damaged machinery promptly
Quantity:
- Ensure work is performed safely and efficiently, minimizing waste
- Ensure all work is completed so deadlines are met
- Work with the supervisor when a problem arises to ensure deadlines are met and errors are minimized
General Duties:
- Review work instructions, procedures and checklists and ensure materials and equipment needed for production are ready and the work area is prepared
- Assemble complex mechanical systems
- Assist in any work area as required and aid other team members as required
- Responsible for maintaining equipment and tools used in production
- Perform first line maintenance on equipment
- Wear and use appropriate safety equipment
- Adhere to all environmental, health and safety regulations and follow the environmental and quality management systems
- Follow all applicable safe operating procedures and work instructions when completing tasks
- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Experience operating a variety of equipment and machines is an asset
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Experience using a variety of hand tools and Power Tools required
- Experience building complex mechanical systems preferred
Education/ Professional Certification:
- Completion of High School
- Post secondary diploma in related field or equivalent experience preferred
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Proven ability to work well within a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Capable of providing continuous improvement input on a variety of products
- Capable of performing manual labour tasks and able to lift heavy objects
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Capable of performing in a high-volume production facility
- exposure to noxious smells
